As usual, there’s loads going on in London this weekend to keep you and the family entertained. Here’s some of the best skint options.
People up and down the country will be celebrating the extraordinary life of Jo Cox who was so cruelly killed last year. The Great Get Together is an informal, weekend-long festival to mark the anniversary of the late MP’s death and a celebration of everything brilliant about our diverse communities in Britain.

There’ll be dozens of one-off events across the capital. Highlights this weekend include a garden party in King’s Cross looking at what it means to be part of a community, a family friendly picnic and sports day in Clapham and an interactive dance off – Dance4Jo – in London Bridge. Special mention must also go to the Gate Theatre in Notting Hill which is welcoming in everyone with FREE tea and cake and a chat on Sunday.

Jousting at Wimbledon Village Fair on Saturday
There’s something for all the family on Wimbledon Common this weekend. Expect medieval style jousting and oddles of stuff to keep kids entertained from a bird of prey display to a mega slide and climbing wall. For really little ones there’ll be face painting and a treasure hunt. So much entertainment – and, importantly kind on the parental wallet!

Kids crying out to unleash their inner Picasso? Then head down to one of the many venues taking part in the nationwide Children’s Art Week 2017. There’s no shortage of events in London this weekend. Highlights include a FREE interactive event at the National Portrait Gallery alongside award-winning animator Lizzy Hobbs where young ones – and their families – are invited to create a stop-frame animation inspired by women aviators of the past.

Elsewhere take the tots over to the Royal Mews where they can join illustrator Evie Fridel and storyteller Lucy Charles to magically recreate horse and carriage scenes from the past. There’ll also be a photo competition where a little one could win a cuddly toy. Tablets are provided as cameras.

Hankering after a champagne lifestyle but on a beer budget? The Forman & Field Open Day could be the answer to your prayers! The Hackney-based smoked salmon specialists are throwing open their doors to everyone this Saturday for a mix of demonstrations, talks and tastings (TASTINGS!). Visitors can have a peek in to their kitchen, enjoy a cheeky cocktail or browse their in-house art gallery.
Forman & Field is part of the family run H. Forman & Son which can trace its roots back to the 1800s. It’s the last of dozens of Jewish smokehouses that used to dot the East End a century ago.

It looks like it’s going to be a balmy one so head outside to Highgate’s Fair In The Square where there’ll be loads on for you and the kids.
The FREE annual festival takes place at Pond Square and nearby St Michael’s Church. Hightlights this year include a sheep shearing show, fairground rides, steel band performances, dance-offs, a Zumba display and Punch & Judy performances.

There’ll be tea and home made cake on offer at the church too plus look out for a performance from their choir.
