This event is above our usual Skint tenner remit, but it is for a very special cause as it’s a charity fundraiser for those affected by the fire at Grenfell.
The #Game4Grenfell at QPR’s Loftus Road stadium features footballing legends David Seaman, Jamie Redknapp and Paul Merson as well as celebs including Jarvis Cocker, Olly Murs and Damian Lewis. The two teams will be managed by former England strikers Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer respectively. Expect guest appearances in the build up to kick off plus at half time too. The match will also be going out live on Sky1.
Money raised from ticket sales and other fundraising connected to the match will be passed directly to the London Community Foundation for allocation to the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund, distributing funds to survivors and the wider community affected by the fire.
QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes said: “It will take years, and in some cases a lifetime, for our community to recover from this.
“We hope this match, this event, this demonstration of support, will help, in some small way, to show that all those who have been affected are not alone. We all stand together.”
Saturday 2nd Sept, kick off 3pm: #Game4Grenfell
Loftus Road Stadium, South Africa Road, W12 7PJ
