Expect a jamboree of fabulous entertainment on the South Bank this summer when annual favourite, the National Theatre’s River Stage Festival returns.
Starting on Friday – and continuing each weekend in August – five top arts and cultural organisations from around the country will ‘take over’ the theatre’s outdoor River Stage bringing their own unique mix of music, dance, interactive workshops and kid-friendly activities.
Highlights to look out for include puppet shows for kids; a chance to dance like Madonna at a Vogue class; an interactive beatboxing workshop; as well as outdoor cinema and theatre displays.
Participants at this year’s varied line-up range from cultural hub HOME, Manchester to music festival, WOMAD and dance company, Rambert.
Dalston gay venue, The Glory, will be entertaining the crowd
It all kicks off with top East End gay venue, The Glory, who’ll be strutting their stuff by the river.
Look out for their hilarious quasi-religious drag show The Unholy Hour (featuring Shesus the Missiah, no less), a Backstreet Boys tribute act plus their end of the world ‘celebration’ at the Apocalypstick Party!
