Londoners, it’s time to release your inner child! Say hello to Slideatron.
Wembley Park, fast becoming one of London’s most up-and-coming creative neighbourhoods, has stepped up to offer something perfect for little kids and big ones over the festive period.
At 18 metres high Slideatron is a contemporary take on a Christmas tree, but it’s not just ornamental. Oh, no! Made from scaffolding and decorated in pink and purple LED lights this scaffolding structure is an immersive experience.
Once you’ve clambered up the steps (we’re assured it’s 60) you squeeze into a sack and whizz down an inner 20 metre spiral slide.
We can report it’s great fun and what’s more, it’s FREE. Music to our ears at this time of year.
There’s also an open-air viewing platform where you can grab some spectacular views of Wembley Park including the iconic Stadium arch and see this new creative district taking shape first hand. Once you’re firmly back on the ground there is an on the hour light show with a remixed Christmas soundtrack that will keep you in the holiday mood.
To maintain the Christmas spirit there’s a mini street food market and, for the grown ups, an 80s themed indoor bar, including cocktails, right besides the slide. It’s also worth popping into the nearby Designer Outlet with your exclusive Slideatron booklet as it will entitle you to a host of discounts.
With Wembley Park just 12 minutes on the tube from central London (via the Metropolitan and Jubilee Line) you’ll be there in no time.
