Above all one man has restored our faith in English football: Gareth Southgate. The waistcoat, the dignity, the manners – we’ve him to thank for the Three Lions progression.
Now a group of loyal supporters from Crawley want our hero manager immortalised in a statue in his home town. Born in the London suburb of Watford, Southgate moved to Crawley (near Gatwick Airport) when he was young and his parents still live there.
The council has said it’s listening to the request but give them a prod and sign the petition. It’s the least Daddy Gareth deserves.
