Half-term can be an expensive old time for parents so here’s a few ideas that won’t break the bank.
Theatre workshops: The Globe
What kid doesn’t want to watch a sword fighting demonstration – with a chance to handle the sword themselves. Shakespeare’s Globe is putting on a full programme of family and children’s events across half-term.
Under 12s can enjoy storytelling and family workshops. Over 12s can participate in curriculum texts such as Macbeth (“Is this a dagger which I see before me”), The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Pancake making + art class: Award winning restaurant, Colonel Saab is holding pancake masterclasses for children aged 5-12 years old.
Not only will Chef Sohan Bhandari and his team help kids make their own pancakes they’ll also be taught how to rustle up smoothies and mocktails. In addition to the cooking an artist will be at an arts and crafts table helping them make Valentine’s cards.
Be warned, you can’t just rock up, you must book.

Funday workshop and screening: The BFI on the Southbank is showing the Aardman classic, Chicken Run:Dawn of the Nugget over the half-term weekend.
Kids’ tickets are just £3 and that includes a children’s art workshop in the foyer.

As always, London’s FREE entry museums are a great resource for all half-term activities.
Check out all the fun stuff at the Horniman Museum – The Twitchers Museum Adventures (FREE) will keep little ones happily engrossed for a couple of hours.
