Calling all culture vultures; this is right up your street. Music, nature, family fun, drama and dance – it’s all happening at the Barbican Openfest, where festival-goers can experience everything creative.
Highlights at this year’s (mainly) FREE weekend include the transformation of the bustling Beech Street Tunnel in to a spectacular light and sound installation (pic above), mastering the boozy basics of mixology, a cleverly curated back-to-nature workshop in the Barbican foyer plus the chance to check out dozens of artists’ wares at the Turning Earth Makers Market.
Enjoy talks and drop-ins on painting and art history
To be fair, you’d expect it to be brilliant. The whole event is being produced in collaboration with The City of London Corporation, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London Symphony Orchestra and the Museum of London. Not bad company!
The weekend is family friendly to boot. There’ll be story telling for the littlest ones plus music and drama workshops as well as the Romp ‘n’ Roll dance class and roller-skating lessons. There’ll also be film clubs for kids of every age.
