Discover the rich history of London’s rivers, streams and canals at this FREE exhibition.
Secret Rivers at Museum of London Docklands uses a combination of archaeology and art to explore the once vital arteries of our cities that no longer exist. Look out for vintage photos and film looking back over the history of our local waterways.
There’ll be artwork to enjoy including this picture of Jacob’s Island in Bermondsey, a notorious slum featured in Oliver Twist – and where Bill Sykes met a sticky end.
Visitors can also get up close to previously unseen artefacts including a beautiful bronze age sword recovered from the waterways. Fascinating stuff. Go!
