The London Illustration Fair is back. The exhibition at the Bargehouse, OXO Tower Wharf is returning for its fourth year, bringing together dozens of artists and buyers from across the art world and showcasing some of the hottest emerging creative talents from across the globe.
It’s also a chance for art lovers to come face-to-face with some of the fair’s featured artists. Icelandic-born Kristjana S Williams will be there showing off her exclusive 3D installation; Uruguayan mixed-media artist Guido Iafigliola will be displaying a range of his prints and videos while Sheffield’s Jonny Wan has hooked up with animation studio Dog & Rabbit to launch an exclusive mural at the fair.
You can even have a go. Organisers are laying on interactive workshops where art lovers of every ability can try their hand at something new like origami, portrait painting and bauble painting.
Sam Cox – aka The Doodle Man (pictured above) – will be one of those encouraging people to come and have a squiggle. ”I’ve got a room to myself so people can walk into an immersive space. They can draw all over it if they like,” he says. “I guess while that’s happening I’ll be drawing people doodling in my room.”
“I like to decorate entire rooms with my doodlings and it will be a chance for people to see how I do that. Come along!”
The Southbank fair could also be a perfect spot to snap up some early Christmas bargains too. Organisers say there will be art “for every pocket” including prints and gifts for under a tenner.
