Immerse yourself in another culture on your next walk around Westfield at Ichiba’s latest offering in Shepherd’s Bush.

The Japan Centre Group’s latest offering launched earlier this summer. Part supermarket, part restaurant, part bakery the complex at the far north of the gargantuan shopping centre has everything Japanese you could ever wish to eat, drink and see.

There’s an on-site supermarket stuffed with all sorts of gadgets and gizmos from the Land Of The Rising Sun where you can check out everything from Oriental ceramics and sushi making kits. There’s also Japanese groceries, east Asian recipe books and the latest cool-as-heck street art books from Tokyo.

But it’s the fiendishly good fare in the sprawling restaurant that will keep you there most. Guests can try out the more-ish street food, baked goodies, piping hot ramen dishes and tasty traditional curries too. There’s hot Donburi Bowls on offer with a choice of meat, fish or veggie toppings over a bed of steaming rice. If you want to keep it carb-free you can with some tasty sashimi and sushi cuts.

There’s also a long drinks list with Japanese lagers, warm or cold sake and sugary soft drinks too. You can even wash the munch down with a matcha latte or a splendidly named (and priced) £6 Japanhatton cocktail. Clever!

Importantly each dish comes in at under a tenner. They even do mix-and match deals like five pieces of Stick ‘n’ Mix Yakitori sticks (above) for the same price. Tasty and affordable.
