Want to add a bit of summer sunshine to your weekend? (We can all pretend) Then make straight for the FREE Portobello Winter Festival in West London.
The FREE to attend two-day event is a mix of steel drum bands, calypso dance performances and DJs on two purpose built stages. There’ll also be a festive market selling street food, a rum shack and a chance to meet Santa in his grotto!

If you can’t make it to the Notting Hill festivities, South Londoners head down to Croydon’s Little Canada Winter Carnival instead.
Surrey Street is being transformed into a celebration of everyone’s current favourite North American country! Look out for live music from Canadian artists as well as a gospel choir. There’ll be face painting for the kids plus First Nation themed arts and crafts stalls. As it’s a Canadian market you’ll also be able to pick up steaming hot waffles with lashings of maple syrup and fresh cream. The dream!

Arrrhhh! Step aboard, me hearties and keep your little seafarers entertained this weekend with some shadow puppetry on the Golden Hinde!
The Night Pirates on the grand old galleon is a 20-minute tale bringing swashbuckling tales of the high seas to life. Tickets are a fiver and includes entry to the rest of the ship so you and the little ones can let off some steam on Sir Francis Drake’s vessel after the show.
