Hear some of the sharpest minds London has to offer – and put your own grey matter to good use – at the UCL Festival Of Culture with dozens of FREE events including talks, workshops and exhibitions.
The jamboree is all to celebrate the teaching of arts, humanities and social sciences. There’s loads of fascinating stuff going on: highlights include a live reading of George Orwell’s 1984, learning the basics of the Greenlandic language and appreciating comic books in today’s political landscape.
Skint’s top picks are the exploration of the Olympic Park in Stratford with a talk from UCL archaeologist Dr Jonathan Gardner and an interactive session looking at relationships in a time of globalisation and Brexit.
There’ll also be a daily festival Book Club at nearby Waterstones on Gower Street. Organisers will be talking about a different book each day and every lunchtime visitors are invited to drop by and share their thoughts on the tomes being discussed. Titles picked this year – including Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (1997) and Kerouac classic On The Road (1957) – all celebrating an anniversary this year.
Mon 5th June – Sat 10th June.
